Updated Lehigh Valley Conference boys basketball standings, and playoff scenario

FROM KEITH GROLLER
Central Catholic has clinched the West Division, and the top seed for next week's tournament, and Parkland has clinched the North.
Beyond that, very little has been decided in the LVC with just eight games left in the regular season. Liberty at Nazareth (it's the annual Tood Rothrock/Derek Kehoe Fund night, by the way, a very worthy cause in memory of two special people) is tonight, then you have Parkland playing Allen on Thursday and then there are six games scheduled for Friday, although some games in other leagues are already being moved up to Thursday night because of expected bad weather on Friday.
Here are the updated standings and what we know about next week's tournament, which will begin on Weds. night for the boys.
LVC WEST
*Central Catholic 11-2, 19-2
*Emmaus 9-4, 11-10
Allen 4-8, 9-11
Dieruff 2-11, 5-15
LVC NORTH
*Parkland 10-2, 15-5
*Whitehall 7-6, 12-9
Nazareth 3-9, 7-13
Northampton 0-13, 2-19
LVC EAST
*Liberty 9-3, 14-6
*Freedom 9-4, 14-7
*Easton 8-5, 15-6
Becahi 4-9, 10-10
*-District 11 qualifier.
Again, CCHS and Parkland are definitely in. Four teams are vying for the last two spots -- Emmaus, Freedom, Easton and Liberty. Liberty can clinch a spot tonight with a win over Nazareth.
If Emmaus beats CCHS on Friday and Freedom beats Liberty on Friday you'd have a three-team tie for the last spot, but I believe Emmaus would lose out in that scenario because the Green Hornets have lost to both Liberty and Freedom.
If Freedom beats Liberty and Emmaus loses to CCHS on Friday, Freedom would get the last slot.
And Easton has to hope for several things to happen. It needs to beat Becahi and then have CCHS beat Emmaus and Liberty beat Freedom. That would set up a one-game playoff between the Patriots and Red Rovers that could be held Monday night.
We've been told that either Freedom or Easton, whoever doesn't make the league tournament, will be the host site for both the semis and finals.
