Merry Christmas to the three wise men and everyone else in local sports

http://blogs.mcall.com/groller/

FROM KEITH GROLLER

Forgive my sappiness on this Christmas Eve afternoon.
Come Thursday, I will probably be back snarling at something or somebody again.
But today, I just want to wish everyone who reads my blog, my columns, my tweets and my stories a Merry Christmas and say thanks for allowing me to do what I do, and that's be a link between the great personalities and events on the Lehigh Valley sports scene and the people who want to know about them.
I feel truly lucky to be able to do this job. Since my first story on Sheila O'Donnell winning a District 11 girls tennis title in 1979, I have gotten to know so many wonderful people and experience so many terrific moments on a variety of stages.
As I begin to head down the backstretch of my career, I have come to appreciate the assignments (well, at least most of them) and the people involved (well, at least most of them) much more than I did five, ten or certainly 30 years ago.
I love being involved on the local scene and still remain committed to doing the best job I can to tell the stories of our teams, our coaches and our athletes in the best way I know how.
I am not perfect. Far from it, but please know that I enjoy what I do and appreciate the fact that many people still do read my stuff, whether it's online or print.
I am truly blessed to have a great family to spend these next couple of days with, but I am also blessed to have gotten to know so many of you over the past 34 years. When I was a kid growing up on the East Side of Allentown in the early 1970s, all I ever wanted to do was be a journalist and do something to make an impact in our community in some small way. My dream has come true.
I mean, really, in what other job could I get to know these three wise men below, the legendary Beet Bowman, Rick Garger and Mike Yadush?
They're just three of the many people who keep my job, and life, quite -- shall we say -- interesting.
Merry Christmas to all.
