Well-deserved honor: John Donmoyer to have floor at Sewards Gym named in his honor

n tomorrow's print version of The Morning Call, you can read about the Allentown School District approving a proposal to have the Allen High Sewards Gymnasium floor named in honor of John Donmoyer, the winningest coach in Lehigh Valley boys basketball history.

John is truly humbled by this gesture, and a little worried that having the floor named in his honor will in some way detract from Milo Sewards.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

John and Milo were very close. I had the honor of getting to know Milo before he died and I know that Milo would have been leading the charge for this honor for John. Nothing could have made him happier.

They both represented Allen High School and the city with class dignity and class. Donmoyer learned a lot from Milo, just as Milo had learned from J. Birney Crum.
