FROM THE EXPRESS TIMES
A mid-afternoon thunderstorm that blew into Bear Stadium in Boyertown, Pa., today resulted in the postponement of the second day of the Region 2 American Legion baseball tournament.
Tournament officials suspended the first game of the day between Pottstown and Topton/Oley Valley with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning with Pottstown leading 3-0.
After a two-hour weather delay, tourney officials ruled the field too unplayable to continue, meaning the remainder of the first game and the subsequent Nazareth-North Parkland and Boyertown-Twin Valley games were all washed out.
The Pottstown-Topton/Oley Valley game will be picked up at 9:30 Tuesday morning with the Nazareth-North Parkland game to follow at 10:30. The loser of the Nazareth-North Parkland game will be eliminated from the tournament.
The Boyertown-Twin Valley game is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday and there will also be games scheduled for 4:30 and 7:30 with the matchups determined by what happens in the first three games.
