FROM KEITH GROLLER
After two seasons, David George has resigned as the boys
basketball coach at Lincoln Leadership Academy in Allentown, but he will
remain the school's athletic director and Dean of Students.
George's decision became effecitve on Tuesday. The Lions were 29-18
over the past two seasons, winning a District 11 playoff game in 2012-13
and losing a first-round game this past season.
George, who previously coached the girls team at Dieruff, said he
will continue to help out the boys program as needed over the rest of
the summer as the team participates in the Stellar Summer League, the
Panther Valley League and the Stellar and SportsFest tournaments.
Assistant coach John Venus ill lead the Lincoln boys over the last
few games of this summer. Calvin Robinson will also continue to help as
the summer winds down.
"I would like to personally thank both of those guys, along with
coach Fred Estrella for their dedication to the Lincoln boys basketball
program over the past few seasons," George said. "It has been an
excellent two years at the helm of the Lincoln boys, including
consecutive District 11 playoff berths. None of this would have been
possible without these gentlemen. I'm extremely grateful to have such
hard-working coaches and friends."
George said the school is looking to fill the boys basketball coaching position immediately.
All interested candidates can apply by sending a resume, cover
letter, Act 34, Act 114 and child abuse history clearance (preferably
