Sports Media Weekly No 110
http://sportsmediajournal.com/
A short but sweet edition of Sports Media Weekly this week.
Ken Fang of Fang’s Bites and I have no guests this week, just the sports media news…
We lead off with a look at the ratings for last night’s Major League Baseball All-Star Game on Fox. It was mixed results for the network, with the overall rating down while still winning the night and seeing the younger demographics improve.
We then look back at ESPN’s coverage of the Home Run Derby on Monday and a piece on The Big Lead at how ESPN’s Dan Shulman may be the next hot property courted by others when his contract comes up later this year.
Ken and I then touch upon the announcements by ESPN that it has retained anchor Stuart Scott and extended the deals for NFL insiders Adam Schefter, John Clayton, Mel Kiper, Jr. and Ed Werder.
We wrap-up the show by recapping Wimbledon on ESPN, prepping for the ESPN College Hoops Marathon in November, and making it clear neither of us care much for the ESPYS.
