Sports Media Digest- January 11, 2012

Here are some other sports media items making news today:

NBC Sports Has Five Straight Days of Hockey- NBC Sports is beginning its ramp up for the second half of he NHL season by providing five straight days of action. Action starts this Saturday at 12:30p.m. ET as NBC will telecast Chicago at Detroit. Sunday night at 7:00p.m. ET NBC Sports Network will the New York Rangers at Montreal Canadiens. Game three on Monday at 7:30p.m. ET p.m. NBC Sports Network will have Dallas at St. Louis, followed on Tuesday at the same time Nashville at the New York Rangers. The finale on Wednesday at 7:30p.m. ET will feature Buffalo at Chicago also NBC Sports Network.

MLB Network to Debut Game Show- The MLB Network has announced that it will launch a game show entitled, Baseball IQ. Baseball IQ will feature thirty-two participants from the 30 MLB clubs. They will be matched up in a bracket-style tournament across 31 episodes. The participants will be playing for money to be dontaed to charity. The program will be hosted by Matt Vasgersian and premiere January 24th at 9:00 p.m. ET.

New Daily College Basketball Program to Air on SiriusXM Radio- SiriusXM will debut Inside College Basketball beginning Thursday, January 12 at 12:00p.m. ET on channel 91. The program will be hosted throughout the season by a roster of college basketball experts that includes former University of Tennessee coach Bruce Pearl, former Villanova University and University of Massachusetts coach Steve Lappas, former University of Vermont coach Tom Brennan, former Ohio State star Jimmy Jackson, college basketball insiders Jeff Goodman and Jon Rothstein and broadcaster Jason Horowitz. The program will air every weekday through the college basketball postseason.
