Cardinals/Marlins to Kick-Off 2012 MLB Season on ESPN

ESPN announced today that it will kick-off the 2012 Major League Baseball season by airing the World Champion St. Louis Cardinals on the road to face the Miami Marlins on Wednesday, April 4th. The 7:00 p.m. ET. telecast will also feature the grand opening of the new Marlins Park.

The opener will be one of five games on the network over the first three games of the season. ESPN2 will televise the Detroit Tigers hosting the Boston Red Sox on Thursday, April 5, at 1:00 p.m. ET, followed by the Marlins visiting the Cincinnati Reds at 4:00 p.m. ET. On Friday, April 6, ESPN2 will televise the Arizona Diamondbacks hosting the San Francisco Giants at 7:00 p.m. ET; followed by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim hosting the Kansas City Royals at 10:00 p.m ET.

All five games will also be made available on the WatchESPN app.
