Extreme heat postpones The Pioneer Band concert in Allentown and 'Zucchini 500' in Easton

FROM THE EXPRESS TIMES

Competitors looking to make their zucchini the fastest "car" in Easton Farmers' Market's annual "Zucchini 500" will have to wait another week.

Market Manager Megan McBride says it was the forecast for extreme heat that led them to postpone the Zucchini 500 until July 30.

The City of Allentown has also postponed tonight's scheduled performance by The Pioneer Band. The group was scheduled to perform at 7:30 as part of the Department of Parks & Recreation 2011 Summer Concert Series, according to a news release. The performance will be rescheduled, but a date has not been given.

The city will still show "Legend of the Guardians" as part of the Movie in the Park series tonight at 9 o'clock at the Arts Park, Fifth and Linden streets, in Allentown.
