Becahi coaching announcement to come later in the week

I talked to Bethlehem Catholic athletic director Mike Grasso briefly on Sunday and he said that the school will be announcing its new boys basketball coach later this week.

I thought the announcement could come as early as today, but Grasso said a final decision has yet to be made. He expected the process to wrap up today and Tuesday.

Expect an announcement later in the week, either Wednesday or, most likely, Thursday.

I have heard the list of five finalists that are making the rounds, and at least four of the five have had ties to Becahi basketball in the past.

Bob Wootsick and Dan Eddinger, who were Al Blount's assistants last year, are both among those final five.

Wootsick, who filled in twice for Blount over the past two seasons when Blount had to miss games because of problems with officials, did an admirable job in his absence.
