STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) -- Tyler Palmer had 15 points to lead Sewickley Academy to a 43-35 win Friday over Reading Central Catholic in the PIAA Boys 1A title game.
Tom Droney added 11 points and five rebounds for the Panthers (27-2).
Marquis Marshall led Reading (30-2) with 15 points, while Donovan Jack added eight.
After a back-and-forth start, Reading surged ahead in the second quarter to take a 26-23 lead into halftime.
But the Panthers responded with four quick points to open the third quarter on buckets by Droney and David Bonomo. Palmer's 3-pointer with 4:31 in the third gave them the lead for good, and Carrington Motley's jumper opened up a 32-28 lead at the end of the third.
The Panthers held on late, winning despite shooting just 33 percent from the field.
