FROM KEITH GROLLER
During his mutilple visits with media at Pocono Raceway on Thursday, Nazareth's Sage Karam said he is spending most of the summer living in Indianapolis and will not be back in Nazareth until the IndyLights season is over in October.
And that knocks the rising IndyCar star out of playing football for Nazareth High School.
“I feel like this whole season has changed me a lot,” he said. “I’ve matured real quickly, basically living by myself in Indianapolis as an 18-year-old. Football isn’t going to work out. I’m just not going to be able to play. I’ll miss it and I’m a little bummed out about it.”
Karam was a starting safety last year and might have been a two-way starter this season for Rob Melosky’s Blue Eagles because he wanted to compete for a wide receiver slot.
“Things were looking good, but racing is now my main obligation,” he said. “But I will be back in Nazareth for wrestling season.”
