PLAYER OF THE WEEK DAN BRNDJAR, Emmaus Senior guard Dan Brndjar had just one point in Emmaus' 55-52 win over Parkland on Tuesday night, but his play was essential to one of the biggest Green Hornets' wins this season. “He's an unsung hero on this team,” Emmaus coach Steve Yoder said. “He's not a stat-stuffer, but when he's off the floor you know it. He makes the little play; kind of like a hard-hat or blue-collar guy who just goes in there and works.” Yoder said that Brndjar is an outstanding defender who often draws the opposing team's best player and has done well against the likes of Central's Muhammad Ali Abdur-Rahkman and Parkland's Austin Beidelman. He also provides steady leadership, befitting of someone who is No. 1 academically in his class. “I love to get my teammates involved and I think it's better to get an assist than score,” he said. “Coach tells me that my role is to make the little plays that help us win and that's what I try to do. Against Parkland, the key was to get our post play going. I try to fly all over the court and keep the energy up for our team. We're a much better team when we play as a unit.” In terms of his academic standing, Brndjar said: “You just try to balance academics and basketball and get stuff done. Basketball is fun for me.” TOP 25 SCORING LEADERS Rank, Player, School,Yr., Avg 1., M.
