FROM KEITH GROLLER
3:01 p.m.
Pass broken up in the end zone, and Delaware gets the ball and will get the victory. 6:48 still left, but the Blue Hens have 42-20 lead and just need to hold on to ball.
2:59 p.m.
Lehigh facing a fourth-and-goal at Delaware 7. 6:54 still left. A TD makes it a two-score game.
2:53 p.m.
Spadola just dropped a touchdown pass, but Lehigh is still plugging away. Has moved to a first down at the Blue Hens 28.
2:50 p.m.
Mike Groome forces a Delaware fumble and John Veniero recovers. Lehigh has the ball back at its own 47 with 10 minutes left. A TD here and it could get interesting again.
2:44 p.m.
Lehigh playing for pride, gets a 19-yard TD pass from Lum to Fitz. It's now 42-20 with 12:36 left. Lum, all things considered, has had a good day, going 29-for-42 for 307 yards. The two interceptions were costly, however.
2:33 p.m.
Devlin continues to show why he may follow Flacco to the NFL. He just threw a 20-yard touchdown pass and it's now 42-13 Delaware with 17 seconds left in the third quarter. Hard to believe Lehigh once led 10-7 and was within 14-13.
2:27 p.m.
Anthony Walters' second interception of the game (and sixth of the season) ends a Lehigh drive. Delaware has it back at its own 38 and Devlin has Blue Hens on the move again, looking for what surely would be the knockout blow.
2:20 p.m.
Lehigh nearly turns it over on its 1, but gets it back. Still can't get a first down and Delaware takes over at Lehigh 41 and gets a 25-yard run by Pierce and a 16-yard TD run by Hayes. We're now officially in Blue Hen blowout country. Delaware 35-13 with 4:45 left in third quarter.
2:15 p.m.
Great 57-yard punt pins Lehigh at its own 9. Mountain Hawks need to get something going, trailing 28-13 with 6:34 left in the third quarter.
2:13 p.m.
Screen pass on fourth down produces a loss of three yards. Hens hold and get ball back at their 25 with 7:40 left in the third quarter.
2:10 p.m.
A couple of key penalties on Delaware have aided Lehigh and the Mountain Hawks have the ball at the Hens' 22 with a chance to stay in the game.
2 p.m.
Pat Devlin just hit Tommy Crosby for a 38-yard TD pass and after a valiant effort in the first half by Lehigh, it looks like the rout my be on. It's 28-13 Bue Hens with 10:09 left in the third quarter. Devlin is now 14-for-19 for 209 yards and three touchdowns.
1:54 p.m.
Lehigh fails to get a first down on its first possession of the second half. Wildcat formation stuffed on third down. Delaware takes over at its own 26.
1:37 p.m.
Lum was 19-for-27 for 198 yards in the first half. Pat Devlin was 11-for-15 for 158 yards for Delaware. Lehigh has just seven yards rushing. Lehigh has played better than expected so far, but Delaware offense just may be too much.
1:31 p.m.
I was just saying how well Chris Lum was playing and especially noting that he had not thrown an interception in a sterling first half, and then he did on the last play of the first half. It killed a nice-looking Lehigh drive that should have produced at least another field goal before halftime. Instead, we enter the break with Delaware ahead 21-13.
1:20 p.m.
Lehigh just punted. It was the first punt by either side today. Now Delaware has the ball with less than two minutes to go. Defense must get a stop here and keep it at 21-13 going into halftime.
1:14 p.m.
Delaware has added to its lead, going 66 yards on 10 plays and scores on a short TD pass on third-and-goal. It's 21-13 with 2:57 left in the half.
1:00 p.m.
Lehigh offense continues to play well and answers with a 49-yard drive that results in a 25-yard Tom Randazza field goal. It cuts Delaware lead to 14-13 with 7:47 left in the first half. Lehigh has 145 yards of offense, Delaware 139. Shootout brewing.
12:51 p.m.
Delaware retakes the lead with a 29-yard TD pass from Pat Devlin to Mark Schenauer. Blue Hens back up 14-10 with 11:56 left in the first half. It was an 8-play, 60-yard drive. Schenauer catches his first career TD pass.
12:44 p.m.
Tom Randazza's 28-yard field goal gives Lehigh a 10-7 lead as Mountain Hawks cash in the fumble for three. It was a 9-play, 40-yard drive. Randazza is now 9-for-10 on FG attempts this season.
12:42 p.m.
First quarter ends with the game tied at 7, and Lehigh facing a 4th-and-5 at the Blue Hens' 11.
12:39 p.m.
Screen pass to Zach Barket for 20 yards and wow, Lehigh has a first down at the UDel 16, looking for the lead.
12:34 p.m.
On Delaware's next possession, the Blue Hens' completed a pass, but Al Pierce forced a fumble. Casey Eldemire recovered it and Lehigh has ball at its own 49.
12:29 p.m.
Lehigh answered Delaware's opening drive with its own scoring drive. Lum hits Spadola for a 13-yard TD pass. Lehigh goes 70 yards on 11 plays, consuming 4:58. It was Spadola's ninth TD catch in his spectacular sophomore season.
12:25 p.m.
Big 21-yard completion to Jake Drwal keeps Lehigh's initial drive going, creating a first-and-goal at UDel 9. Lehigh calls timeout before third-and-goal at the 13.
12:21 p.m.
Questionable pass interference penalty on Delaware has crowd and Hens coach K.C. Keeler all riled up. Lehigh gets a first down and has it at Delaware 40 with a second-and-1 coming.
12:18 p.m.
Delaware took the opening kickoff and went right down the field and scored. Anthony Pierce scored on a 5-yard TD run. Delaware went 68 yards on 11 plays in a drive that took 5:31. There was a defensive holding mixed in. Blue Hens 7-0.
11:29 a.m.
We're 35 minutes from kickoff here for the FCS playoff game between Lehigh and Delaware. It's sunny and breezy here at Delaware Stadium. Talked to Lehigh coach Andy Coen as we entered the stadium. They stayed overnight here at Delaware, but Coen said one of the team's buses broke down causing a little trouble with the commute between hotel and stadium. Not a good omen. Yet, Coen was feeling pretty good. He said his team was loose, relaxed. They won't be intimidated by this atmosphere here and Coen said it wouldn't matter if they were playing the Patriots today.
