FROM KEITH GROLLER
Pat Devlin showed why Penn State fans are grumbling and NFL scouts may be drooling.
The Delaware senior completed 19 of 26 passes for 256 yards and found four different receivers for touchdowns in a 42-20 FCS second-round playoff win over Lehigh before 13,649 fans at Delaware Stadium.
The Blue Hens (10-2) move on to the FCS quarterfinals next week, while Lehigh had its eight-game win streak snapped and finished a Patriot League championship season at 10-3.
Lehigh fell behind 7-0 early, but rallied to take a 10-7 lead early in the second quarter after Chris Lum hit Ryan Spadola for a 13-yard touchdown and Tom Randazza kicked a 28-yard field goal.
But Devlin capped an eight-play, 60-yard drive with a 29-yard TD pass to Mark Schenauer to give the third-seeded Blue Hens the lead for good with 11:56 left in the first half.
Lehigh did come back to close within 14-13 on another Randazza field goal with 7:47 left in the first half.
However, Delaware put the game away with 28 straight points -- Devlin throwing three TD passes in the barrage.
Lehigh came back to get a fourth-quarter touchdown on another Lum TD pass, but the Blue Hens wouldn't allow it to get any closer.
Lum, a junior, had several career-highs in going 35-for-58 for 362 yards.
