'Tis the season for the preseason All-America and
players-to-watch lists to come out for the upcoming college football
season. Lehigh's Ned Daryoush figures to be an anchor up front for the
Mountain Hawks offense this season as the left tackle. He has picked up
an early-summer accolade from the Sports Network.
Also, University of New Hampshire rising senior Mike Coccia, a
Freedom High graduate, was a second-team All-America selection from the
Sports Network. Remember, Lehigh plays at UNH on Sept. 13.
Here's the release on Daryoush from Lehigh Sports Information:
Lehigh senior offensive lineman Ned Daryoush has been named to the
Sports Network Preseason All-America third team, it was announced
Tuesday. Daryoush is a two-time All-Patriot League selection who has
started every game over the last two seasons at left tackle for the
Mountain Hawks.
Daryoush did not see any varsity action as a freshman but began his
sophomore season at left tackle and has started all 22 games there
since.
In 2012, the Bethesda, Maryland native was the only Lehigh lineman
to start all 11 games at the same position. The Mountain Hawks boasted
one of the Patriot League’s top passing offenses and finished the year
ranked fifth nationally in fewest sacks allowed. Daryoush earned second
team All-League honors following Lehigh’s 10-1 season.
Last year, Daryoush earned first team All-Patriot League honors as
one of the leaders on an offensive line that allowed the fewest sacks in
the Patriot League, while paving the way for tailback Keith Sherman to
become Lehigh’s first 1,000 yard rusher in 11 years.
A supply chain management major with a 3.16 GPA, Daryoush was
selected as one of four team captains for the Mountain Hawks at the end
of Lehigh’s spring practice segment.
Daryoush is Lehigh’s first Sports Network Preseason All-American since wide receiver Ryan Spadola was honored in 2012.
The Mountain Hawks will open the 2014 season against James Madison at Goodman Stadium on Saturday Sept. 6.
