Eleven Morning Call-area softball players named to all-state teams

The Pennsylvania High School Softball Coaches Association has named 11 Morning Call-area players to its all-state teams for the recently-completed 2014 season.
Headling the list is Brandywine's Taylor Brintzenhoff, a shortstop headed to Louisiana Tech. She hit .482 in being named the 2A Player of the Year.
Also honored were:
Class 4A -- First Team
Liberty first baseman Mariah Kondravy, who hit .441 with  8 HRs, 24 RBIs, 15 walks, 5 doubles, 21 runs. She is a two-time Morning Call player of the year and headed to the University of Delaware.
Parkland center fielder Courtney Miller, who hit .405 in helping Parkland win its first 25 games, including the Lehigh Valley Conference and District 11 titles. She is headed to Iona.
Parkland pitcher Morgan Rentzheimer, who went 21-1 with a 0.96 ERA. She is headed to the University of Scranton.
Class 3A -- First Team
Saucon Valley shortstop Arastina Barry, who hit .621 with 41 hits, including two doubles, three triples and 19 runs. She also stole 16 bases and is headed to Ursinus.
Becahi outfielder Julia Madison, who hit .448 in helping the Golden Hawks win the District 11 title and reach the state finals.
Class 3A -- Second Team
Palisades catcher Melissa Albe, who .500 with 15 extra-base hits, including seven HRs. She's headed to Kutztown University.
Class 2A -- First Team
Brandywine's Sam Sweigart, who hit .573 with 14 extra-base hits, including seven HRs, and is headed to Lafayette College.
Brandywine's Brintzenhoff, who hit ..482 with 14 extra-base hits and 28 RBIs.
Brandywine's Amanda Hess, who hit .516 and scored 33 runs.
Catasauqua's Hannah Edwards, who hit .573 and stole 32 bases in 33 attempts as a sophomore. She has already committed to the University of Pittsburgh.
Pen Argyl's Emily Smull, who hit .443 with six home runs and also went 15-4 as a pitcher. She is headed to Cabrini.
Other than Edwards, all of the other Morning Call-area all-state selections are seniors.
In addition, seven members of Minersville's Class A state championship team -- pitcher Riley Gerenda, first baseman Emily Mealey, second baseman Leah Leshko, shortstop Reighly Melochick, catcher Morgan Woodford and outfielders Adrienne Kroznuskie and Lindsey Snyder -- were made all-state selections.
