The last time a District 11 champ played a state quarterfinal at Souderton Area High School, it didn’t end well. That was the 29-0 Central Catholic boys basketball team, which lost to Neumann-Goretti in the PIAA 3A quarters on March 14.
The Parkland and Bethlehem Catholic softball teams will look for better results when they head to Souderton for PIAA quarterfinals on Thursday.
The Golden Hawks (18-6) will play District One champ Radnor at noon followed by a 4A game at 2 p.m. game pitting the Trojans (24-0) against Avon Grove, also a District One champ.
Pen Argyl is heading to Lyons in Berks County (near Fleetwood) for its quarterfinal game against District 3 champ Susquenita.
Pates Park won't be hosting any local teams, but will be in use for a pair of games on Thursday.
At noon, District One champ Bristol plays District 4 champ South Williamsport and at 2 p.m. District 12 champ Lansdale Catholic will face District 2 champ Berwick in a 3A game.
