Much more on Zak Dakes in Monday's print edition of The Morning Call, but the Allen High senior had an "awesome experience" playing at Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium on Saturday night in the Blue-Gray National All-Star Game.
Dakes’ North team lost the game, 36-18, but it was an experience of a lifetime for Dakes, who is one of the top students in his senior class at Allen.Zak Dakes
“It was the coolest experience I’ve ever had,” Dakes said on Sunday morning. “It was awesome to be in the Buccaneers’ stadium and be in an NFL locker room and play on an NFL field and get my name announced on the P.A. system after making a tackle.”
Dakes, who was one of 96 players chosen for the game through a series of NFL-styled combines, played free safety for his team and made four tackles, including a big stop on a fourth-and-two carry for the South team.
