FROM KEITH GROLLER
Duke Helm, the District 11 football statistician, does a great job pumping out the numbers on all area leagues, keeping us informed of records being set and other milestones.
Here's his latest stuff, and a breakdown of the top performances this year so far:
Week 10 notes and milestones:
Colin McDermott of Central Catholic rushed for 422 yards last week against Bethlehem Catholic to break Austin Scott's LVC record. Scott had 402 yards vs Freedom in 2002. Nick Kurtz still holds the District 11 record with 429 yards set in 1999 vs Freedom. He now has 2,114 yards for the season to break Tommy Williams single season record of 1,769 yards set in 1996. McDermott also scored 5 TDs in the game and now how 26 for the season and 70 for his career. He moves into 7th place on the all-time area career TD list, one ahead of Artie Owens of Stroudsburg who had 69 between 1969-71. McDermott's 5,294 career rushing yards puts him in 5th place on the all-time area career list. He needs 157 yards to go by Eric Rath of Pius X, who had 5,450 yards from 1998-2001 ... Dalton Nunemacher of Tamaqua didn't score a TD last week in their 12-0 shutout of Marian Catholic. He has 23 TDs this year which is one behind school record holder Jarred Muffley. Muffley just set the record last year (24 td's) when he broke a 4 player log jam, all with 18. Zack Bradley of Catasauqua threw 3 more TD passes vs Northwestern to up his season school record total to 25. Mike Racciato of Pen Argyl went over 2,000 yards rushing for his career and now has 40 career TDs. ... Junior Ra'Von Burton of Catasauqua and sophomore Shane Simpson of Easton now have 20 career TDs ... K.J. Williams of Liberty finished up his junior year with 59 receptions for 896 yards and 10 td catches. The 59 catches and 896 yards are school records. With another year to play yet, his career totals stand at 98 catches for 1,691 yards and 22 TD catches. All 3 are now school records. Bob Mann had 96 career catches between 1982 (38) and 1983 (58). Joey Orlando had 1,285 yards from 2005-07 and Joe Donaher had 15 td catches between 1965-67. Patrick Duvigneaud of Jim Thorpe went over 3,000 yards passing for his career against Lehighton ... Evan Fardella of Pocono Mountain East threw for 1,342 yards this season to break his own single-season record of 1,286 yards that he set in his sophomore year. Nick Cook of Northampton went over 2,000 yards passing for the season and is now at 2,007. Parkland's Tim Baranek went over 2,000 yards passing for his career and now has 2,012 yards. ... Dubois Ross of Liberty ended up one catch short of the century club. He ended his career with 99 catches for 1,805 yards and 24 TDs ... Jacen Nalesnik of Lehighton fell 29 yards short of the Shane McEvoy's school record for career receiving yards. McEvoy had 1,642 yards from 2005-07. Nalesnik came up short after switching to quarterback late in the season and ended up pulling off a rare feat. Nalesnik completed the "Triple 100." In separate games in his career, he's rushed, received and passed for over 100 yards in a game. His career highs were 254 yards rushing vs Jim Thorpe in 2011, 191 receiving yards vs PME in 2011, and threw for 129 yards vs PMW in 2012. On top of that, he caught 11 passes in that PME game and scored 6 TDs in the Jim Thorpe game (both tying school records) ... Matt Shelter of Pocono Mountain West went over 1,000 yards receiving in his career (1,015). He broke Mike Quiteh's school record of 975 yards that he set from 2006-07 .... Paryss Marshall of Catasauqua now has 12 TD catches this year to break the school record of 11 that was held by Kyle Lahue, who set the record in 2004 as a junior. Marshall now has 15 career TD catches and sits 3 touchdowns behind his head coach Tom Falzone's school record of 18 (1993-95). Falzone's old teammate Matt Andrews is currently in 2nd place with 16 career TD catches (1994-96). Marshall is only a junior .... Donovan McDonald of Stroudsburg now has 636 yards receiving this year to break Tom Perry's 25 year old school record. Perry had 619 yards in 1987. Nick Sommer of Whitehall is currently tied with former Zephyr Chad Schwenk (1997) for 2nd place on the school's all-time single season receiving yardage total with 772. Tyler Artim holds the record with 827 yards set in 2010.
