Nazareth Area High School baseball team defeats Emmaus 2-1 in District 11 playoffs

http://www.lehighvalleylive.com/sports/index.ssf/2012/05/nazareth_area_high_school_base_15.html FROM TOM HINKEL Anthony Gaetaniello's seventh inning double scored Derek Charlie with the winning run today to lead Nazareth Area High School to a 2-1 win over Emmaus in a District 11 Class AAAA quarterfinal round baseball game at Walter C. Fry Memorial Field. Charlie singled down the left field line with one out in the seventh off Emmaus starter Luke Miller. Gaetaniello followed with a hard liner that split the gap in right-center and Charlie came all the way around to score the winning run. "It just seems like different guys every day are stepping up for us," Nazareth coach Jon Lock said. "We've battled adversity all year. Our guys are accustomed to battling adversity. They're a gritty, determined bunch." Nazareth (19-4) advances to Friday's semifinals against Parkland, Pocono Mountain East or Bangor at a time and site to be determined. Junior Dan Horvath, the third Nazareth pitcher, pitched the last two innings to get the win. Ace pitcher Karl Keglovits departed early when Emmaus' Vinny Romano led off the game with a come-backer that bounced off Keglovits' bare hand. Lock described the injury as a sprain or a contusion. Dan Shepherd relieved Keglovits and pitched through the fifth inning.
