Hazleton does get HBO spotlight tonight in Maddon piece

http://blogs.mcall.com/groller/ FROM KEITH GROLLER I received an advanced copy of the newest edition of HBO's "Real Sports" and as I wrote about the other day in the print version of The Morning Call, the town of Hazleton is featured quite prominently in the feature on Tampa manager Joe Maddon. He is doing what he can to bring his hometown together with the Hazleton Integration Project. As we all know, Hazleton has been at the center of the immigration controversy. Maddon's mission is to bring old Hazleton and new Hazleton together, a task even more daunting than trying to shake Tampa's image as once lovable losers. Armen Keteyian is the reporter and I think he could have used more time to fully reveal Maddon's personality. The segment features footage of Hazleton and an interview with his mother, who still lives there. It also shows off Maddon's colorful personality, including his clothing choices and various hairstyles. All I can say is that if you didn't like Joe Maddon before this piece, you will after seeing this and the amount of good work this guy is trying to do. This is not just a good manager, but a very good person. Even the most staunch Yankees and Red Sox can't hate this guy.
