Sports Media Digest- March 8, 2012

SiriusXM Has Coverage of the Men’s NCAA Basketball Tournament- Every game of the 2012 NCAA Men’s College Basketball Tournament will be aired on SiriusXM Radio. All tournament games will be available to SiriusXM listeners in their entirety, with no blackouts, on Sirius channels 91, 92, 93, 94 and 85 and XM channels 91, 190, 191, 192 and 193. Tournament match-ups and Sirius and XM channel assignments will be available at www.siriusxm.com/collegesports starting Monday, March 12. All NCAA Tournament broadcasts are provided to SiriusXM by Dial Global. SiriusXM will also provide coverage on selection Sunday as Chris “Mad Dog” Russo will be on the air from 5:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. on SiriusXM channel 86 followed by SiriusXM College Sports Nation on channel 91.. The network will also be on hand in New Orleans broadcasting during the Final Four.

ESPN/ABC Sees Ratings Hike for NBA- Through the first half of the NBA season, ESPN and ABC have seen ratings and viewership increases over 2011. Through 36 game son ESPN, ratings are up 14% over last year (1.6 vs. 1.4). Viewership is up 6% (1.98 million vs. 1.83 million) On ABC ratings are up 11% (3.9 vs. 3.5) while viewership is up nine percent (6.6 million vs. 6.0 million). ESPN and ABC have also seen increases in ratings over key demographics.

NFL Network Preps for Free Agent Frenzy 2012- The NFL Network (NFLN) is planning on three days of coverage next week as the start of the NFL free agent season kicks off. It all starts on Monday, March 12th at 7:00p.m. ET with NFL Total Access – Free Agency Frenzy 2012 Preview hosted by Scott Hanson andLindsay Rhodes with analyst Brian Baldinger and reporter Steve Wyche. The fenzy continues Tuesday at 12:00p.m. ET with Fran Charles hosting Free Agency Frenzy Preview. Rich Eisen continues the coverage at 4:00p.m. ET. The network will continue coverage of Free Agency Frenzy with a six hour program beginning at 12:00p.m. ET. All hosts will be joined by the various NFLN analysts and reporters at a number of key team offices.

Next Stop on NASCAR Sprint Series This Sunday on Fox- Fox Sports will have coverage of the next stop on the NASCAR Sprint Cup series, the Sin City for the Kobalt Tools 400 from Las Vegas Motor Speedway beginning at 2:30p.m. ET this Sunday. Mike Joy will be alongside analysts Darrell Waltrip and Larry McReynolds to call the action while Chris Myers will be joined by Darrell and Michael Waltrip pre and post race.

ESPN Films to Debut 26 Years: The Dewey Bozella Story Next Week- The latest effort of ESPN Films, 26 Years: The Dewey Bozella Story, will debut next Thursday, March 15th, at 8:30p.m. ET on ESPN. The story depicts Bozella as he was forced to spend 26 years in prison for a murder he did not commit. During that time he turned to boxing, where he became a professional upon his release.

Snowboarding and Freesking This Weekend on NBC- NBC Sports has coverage as the top snowboarders and skiers participate in snowboard halfpipe and skiing slopestyle competitions in the difficult and unique terrain of Mammoth Mountain. NBC has the Sprint U.S. Grand Prix Half Pipe Finals Saturday beginning at 12:00p.m. ET and the Visa U.S. Grand Prix Half Pipe Finals at 1:00p.m. ET.
