Volunteer Opportunities

AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY, Bethlehem is looking for volunteers to sell daffodils at sales sites in Bath, Northampton, Whitehall and Bethlehem on March 21-25 during Daffodil Days. Shifts are two to four hours. Contact: Rosemarie Murphy, 610-921-2329x3109, rosemarie.murphy@cancer.org.

CAMP COMPASS ACADEMY, Allentown needs a computer technician to assess and apply needed fixes to system in its youth computer lab. Memory upgrades and hard wiring to viewing sources needs work. CENTER FOR HUMANISTIC CHANGE, Bethlehem is looking for volunteers for its board of directors for agency governance and for developing new perspectives to guide our organization. Board members also participate in committees. We especially need an individual with a MSW, as well as persons to represent South Bethlehem neighborhoods. COMMUNITY BIKE WORKS, Allentown needs volunteers to serve as "Earn a Bike" instructor to assist children ages 9 to 17 in repairing bicycles. Mechanical experience is helpful, but not necessary; training provided. The 12-week program is held 6-8 p.m. one night each week. Contact: James Williams, 610-434-1140, james@communitybikeworks.org.

DOWNTOWN BETHLEHEM ASSOCIATION needs volunteers to be a part of a float in this year's "Parade of Shamrocks" 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 17 in the second annual VegFest. FOX ENVIRONMENTAL CENTER, Bethlehem needs a volunteer to help at the front desk, to hand out brochures and to handle gift purchases and donations. One hour orientation and two hours of supervised on-the-job training provided. Volunteers must make at least one four hour a week commitment. HORSES AND HORIZONS THERAPEUTIC LEARNING CENTER, New Ringgold is looking for volunteers to be horse leaders and side walkers during its lessons. Horse Leaders are mature, responsible individuals with prior horse experience that take charge and are responsible for the entire riding lesson. Side walkers assist with the rider's leaning, balance, and safety during the lesson. Training session will be held 1-5 p.m. April 14: Contact: Kasie Seymour, 610-349-6157, kasie.seymour@gmail.com.
