Volunteer Opportunities

CAMELOT FOR CHILDREN, Allentown needs volunteers ages 18 and older to watch children during parent night out events during evenings and weekends. Camelot parents drop off their children for a fun night at Camelot to play games and watch movies. Help is needed for an event 6-10 p.m. Feb. 25. Contact: Cassie Kemmerer, 610-791-5683.

DOWNTOWN BETHLEHEM ASSOCIATION is looking for volunteers to assist with a clean-up 9 a.m. to noon April 28 at Broad and Main streets. Trash bags, gloves, and T-shirts will be provided. Bring garden tools, if interested in planting. A party will be held after the clean-up. Minimum age: 14, or younger with a parent. Contact: Loly Reynolds, 484-554-5229.

KREIDERSVILLE COVERED BRIDGE ASSOCIATION, Northampton needs volunteers to help plan its upcoming festival to be held June 2 and 3. Help is needed to set up vendors, historical demonstration areas, food court, kids' area, entertainment and promotion. Meetings are held usually the first Tuesday of the month at the Allen Township Municipal Building. Minimum age: 16. Contact: Sue Irons, 610-262-9335.

LEHIGH COUNTY CONFERENCE OF CHURCHES, Allentown is seeking a volunteer to answer phones, direct calls and answer the door in afternoons one day a week. Training will be provided. Contact: Abby Goldfarb, 610-439-8653 ext. 14.


PROJECT BLUEPRINT, the Volunteer Center, is seeking racially diverse volunteers for its upcoming minority volunteer leadership program. Project Blueprint develops and trains volunteers to serve on local nonprofit committees and boards. The seven session program, which covers topics related to board membership and leadership skills, will be held 5:30-8:30 p.m. Mondays beginning March 19. SIXTH STREET SHELTER, Allentown, is looking for volunteers to provide child care at the Family Resource Center while parents are working on their resumes, job applications and doing a housing search. STRIVE, Allentown needs volunteers who have a desire to work with inner-city youth to help them overcome barriers to their success. We have a need for coaches to assist students with academic and life planning. All volunteers must have child abuse clearances and criminal background check on file. Must be 18 or older.
