THE MILITARY NURSING CORPS OF PENNSYLVANIA, VFW Post 12099, is seeking new members and welcomes veterans. Current members have served in every conflict from WWII to active status in Iraq and Afghanistan. Post 12099 meets 7 p.m. the second Tuesday of the month at the Gen. Charles C. Volunteers will be on hand to assist shoppers in finding items and sizes. Individuals are invited to remain for a free light meal and short Lenten service message at the church's Faith Café. MENNONITE HERITAGE CENTER, 565 Yoder Road, Harleysville, will hold a theorem painting workshop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Theorem artist Sandra Coldren will teach participants the painting techniques of this 19th century form of stenciling. Individuals will complete the stenciling portion of the design in class and will be shown how to add their family names and dates to personalize their family registers. SECOND HARVEST FOOD BANK of Lehigh Valley and Northeast Pennsylvania will distribute packages of food staples in Allentown, Easton and East Stroudsburg to people who were affected by the Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee in August 2011. The food is from the United States Department of Agriculture in collaboration with the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. The goal is to supplement food that households have already obtained since the storms by providing a disaster food box containing a variety of fruits, vegetables and proteins based on nutritional content and shelf life. The temporary program will end when all foods allocated to Second Harvest have been distributed. Dates and locations of distributions are as follows: 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at Second Harvest Food Bank, 2045 Harvest Way, Allentown; 10-11:30 a.m. Friday at ProJeCt of Easton, 320 Ferry St.; and 10-11:30 a.m. Feb. 27 at the Salvation Army, 226 Washington St., East Stroudsburg. Households adversely affected by the storms and their aftermath may call Ann McManus at 610-434-0875 to register for a food box. Registration is strongly recommended.
