Bethlehem Catholic turned on the power in the middleweights to storm past District 3 runner-up Bermudian Springs 47-9 in a first-round match of the PIAA Class AA team tournament today at the Giant Center in Hershey.
Becahi (12-0), the District 11 champion, trailed 12-11 after 120 but took the last eight in a row to clinch the win over the Eagles (25-3).
Senior Zane Heller, returning from injury at 126, started the run with a 4-0 decision. Golden Hawk sophomore Nick Cortopassi also came back from the injured list with a 3-1 win at 160.
Becahi got a pins at 145 from senior Aaron Morekin. At 152 pounds, Becahi's Ryan Todora won by disqualification due to a bite.
The Golden Hawks will meet District 10 champ Fort LeBoeuf, a 41-27 winner over D-7 runner-up Jefferson-Morgan, in a challenging Friday quarterfinal at noon.
