Updated Stats for Week Ten Duke Helm

This week's notes: Jordan Gray of Nazareth rushed for 250 yards vs Whitehall to establish a new District 11 record for rushing yards in a game for a freshman (old record is this week's trivia). Gray now has 909 yards for the season and is second all-time behind James Mungro of East Stroudsburg South. Mungro rushed for 1,233 yards as a freshman in 1993 and scored a freshman record 17 touchdowns. Gray joins 9 other running backs that had at least 400 yards rushing as a freshman. They are Mungro, Jonathan Linton (Catty), Billy Stocker (Wilson), Sean Hoffman (Wilson), Cody Remaley (N. Lehigh), Dan Tavani (Notre Dame), Scott Lavalva (Bangor), Woody Petchel (Pen Argyl) and Juan Gaddy (Easton). Which one of these held the record. Four of them rushed for over 180 yards in a game and are all seperated by only 7 yards. Josh Wing of Bangor now has 19 touchdowns for the season and is tied for the school record with Mike Smith (1997) and Scott Lavalva (2008 & 2009). Wing also needs 80 yards to break Lavalva's single season rushing record of 1,662 yards that he set as a sophomore in 2008. Dylan Evans of Pen Argyl is now in 24th place on the all-area rushing list with 3,728 yards. Evans went by Southern Lehigh great Chris Smith and P'Burg's all-time leading rusher Leonard Brice. He is also exactly 800 yards behind legendary Woody Petchel in career rushing yards (4,529/3,729) for the school. Brendan Nosovitch is now in 28th place with 3,519 yards. Robert Bennie of Stroudsburg now has 2,876 career rushing yards and is sandwiched between Easton's Brad Piperata (2,879) and Parkland's Andre Williams (2,872) in 53rd place. Here some more names he moved ahead. Chris Thomas (Pius/Str), Nate Pendry (Cat), CJ Billera (Emm), John Killar (SV), Dave Paffenroth (Str), Joe Thomas (Str/Pius), Nick Kurtz (Wh), Jake Remmel (Sal), Bob Tarola (Beca), Adam Zara (Pius), Ethan Pendry (Cat), and Justin Graff (Naz). Evans now has 69 career touchdowns tying him with Stroudsburg great Artie Owens for 6th place all-time in the area. Nosovitch is tied with Darren Mason of Liberty and Robbie Frey of Lehighton for 18th place with 58 career td's. Welcome back rb Eddie Elliott of Freedom. Elliott missed the first 7 games of the season with a leg injury. Joe Clouse of East Stroudsburg North (1,256 yards) is now the school's single season rushing leader. Clouse also broke his brother Jon's single season touchdown record with his 3 scores last week. Joe now has 17 td's, one better than Jon had in 2006. Rob Getz of Pleasant Valley needs 96 yards rushing to break the school record of 1,036 yards set by Chris Jacobs in 1998.

Sophomore AJ Long of Pius X now has an area leading 27 td passes for the year. He now has 55 career td passes and moved by Tim Cramsey of Central Catholic and Barry Kennedy of Catasauqua into 10th place all-time in the area. Long also went over 5,000 yards for his career. With his 3 td passes against Palisades, Ty Edmond of Southern Lehigh is now the school's all-time career leader with 30 td passes. Corey Sroka (2006-09) held the old record with 28. Junior Jeff Krisiak of Pocono Mountain West is now the school's career passing leader. Krisiak has 2,161 yards breaking the old record held by Jon Mangual who threw for 2,118 yards from 1996-97. Mangual still holds the school's career td pass record with 21 and single season passing yards with 1,265. Krisiak is 2 td passes behind Mangual with 19 career td passes and needs 145 yards to break Mangual's single season yardage record. Robert Bennie of Stroudsburg now has 2,270 yards of total offense and is within 91 yards of school record holder Artie Owens (West Virginia, San Diego Chargers). In 1971, Owens had a school record 2,061 yards rushing on 197 carries (10.5 ypc) and caught 17 passes for 300 yards for a total of 2,361 yards. He also scored a State record 41 td's that year.
