Moravian Academy senior Tara Jain defeated Southern Lehigh's Robyn Ferraro 6-3, 6-1 in the District 11 Class AA singles final today at Westend Racquet Club.
"It feels really good," Jain said. "I have been working really hard at my game and I feel like it has finally paid off today."
Jain captured the only service break of the first set and broke all four of the freshman's service games in the second set.
The district singles title adds to a long list of accomplishments Jain has already accumulated at Moravian Academy. Last season, she earned the silver medal in district singles and gold medals in district and state doubles with partner Maggie Reilly.
"It was the one thing I felt I hadn't accomplished in high school tennis so I'm glad I finally did," Jain said.
