July Fourth weekend fireworks, events

FIREWORKS

•Allentown: J. Birney Crum Stadium, 21st and Linden streets; entertainment beginning at 5 p.m. Sunday includes skydivers and music; fireworks start around 9 p.m. Rain date Monday.

•Bethlehem: Sand Island; music by the American Legion Band, 7:30 p.m. at Payrow Plaza, fireworks at 9 p.m. Sunday. Rain date Monday.

•Breinigsville: Fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m. Sunday at Earl Adams Park. Rain date Monday.

•Coca-Cola Park, Allentown: 3-D Fireworks Extravaganza after Lehigh Valley IronPigs baseball game, Sunday.

•Dorney Park: South Whitehall Township, 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

•Easton: Fireworks will be part of Easton Heritage Day July 11.

•East Stroudsburg: Fireworks will be part of the Annual American Freedom Festival at 9:15 p.m. Sunday.

•Lake Wallenpaupack: Fireworks display will begin at 9:15 p.m. Sunday.

•Perkasie: 9:15 p.m. July 11 in Lenape Park as part of Pennridge Community Day celebration. Rain date, July 18.

•Quakertown: Sunday in Memorial Park, in conjunction with Community Day. Rain date Monday.

EVENTS

Allentown: The city's Independence Day celebration begins at 5 p.m. Sunday at J. Birney Crum Stadium, 21st and Linden streets. Entertainment includes skydivers, a jet flyover and music by The Large Flowerheads, Jake Kaligis and the New Constitution and the Marine Band. Fireworks start about 9 p.m. Gates open at 4:30 p.m. Admission is free; donation of $5 per family and $2 per person is requested to defray expenses of the Police Athletic League (PAL). Rain date Monday.

Bethlehem: Concert by the American Legion Band, 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Payrow Plaza, 12 E. Church St., followed by fireworks at 9 p.m. from Sand Island. Rain date Monday.

Zion's United Church of Christ, Allentown: July 4 Independence Day Service and Reading of the Declaration of Independence 10 a.m.; luncheon with children's activities at 11:30 a.m., music by the Flutations, 1:15 p.m., National Bell Ringing Ceremony at 2 p.m.

Breinigsville: Community event begins at 8 p.m. Sunday at Earl Adams Park. Fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m. Rain date Monday.

Dorney Park: Celebrate Independence Day with funnel cake eating contest at 1 p.m., 3,p.m. and 5 p.m. Sunday (located on Main Midway near Coasters restaurant), kids' ice-cream eating contest, follows funnel cake contest at 1:30, 3:30, and 5:30 p.m.; fireworks show, 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

Doylestown: Fonthill Museum, Doylestown will hold an Old-Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration noon-5 p.m. Sunday. Festivities include a children's decorated bike parade, town ball game (19th-century baseball), watermelon eating contests, free old-time games, live music and picnic foods. Admission: $4; $2, members; $1 ages 5-17; free, 4 and under.

Easton: The Family YMCA of Easton, Phillipsburg and Vicinity's 12th Annual Firecracker Four-Mile Race and Run at Fairview Park, Palmer Township, Sunday. Registration is 7-8:20 a.m. Start time is 8:30 a.m. for the run and 8:35 a.m. for the walk. Entry fee is $22. Info and registration: 610-258-6158.

East Stroudsburg: Annual American Freedom Festival will be held 2-9 p.m. Sunday at Dansbury Park. Food, amusements, crafts, exhibits and demonstrations followed by fireworks at 9:15 p.m.

Kutztown: July Fourth Parade noon, Kutztown Folk Festival, Kutztown Fairgrounds. Festival admission required.

Macungie: Old Fashioned Fourth of July picnic begins at 9 a.m. Sunday at Macungie Memorial park with a parade, followed by activities including a bike rodeo, duck race in the creek (11 a.m.; $5, per duck), fire department and ambulance corps displays, contest and games, entertainment in the band shell (1 p.m.), more.

Quakertown: The Community Day Celebration begins at 8 a.m. Sunday at Memorial Park, with a pancake breakfast, followed by activities including an antique car show, games, food and entertainment, fireworks (9:30 p.m.) Rain date Monday.

Richlandtown: The Richlandtown Historical Society will ring the large bell on its grounds at 2 p.m. Sunday. The program begins at 1:30 p.m. at the Shelly School, 130 Richlandtown Pike. Info: 215-536-4929.

Sellersville: The borough will participate in the "Let Freedom Ring" bell ringing ceremony at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Sellersville Museum, 120 E. Church St.

Shawnee: Shawnee Mountain Ski Area Independence Day celebration Saturday includes Uncle Sam Stilt Walker, Mark Clark's All-American Magic Show, food and craft vendors and fireworks at dusk. Admission: $10 per car. Benefits the Shawnee Volunteer Fire Company. Rain date Sunday.

Pennridge: Community Day celebration, Lenape Park, Route 152, Perkasie. July 11. Sporting events, games, entertainment, fireworks. Rain date, July 18.

Warren County: Spirit of America Celebration, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday, Footbridge Park, Blairstown, N.J.
