Lehighton wins District 11 Class 3A title

No. 2 seed Lehighton rallied from two multi-run deficits to complete a run of comebacks in the District 11 playoffs and down No. 5 Saucon Valley 7-5 in the District 11 Class 3A baseball final this afternoon at Coca-Cola Park.

The district title is the first in program history for the Indians (18-7), who will play the winner of today's District 3 title game between West York and Conrad Weiser in a PIAA Class 3A first-round state game Monday.

Lehighton trailed 3-0 after three innings and 5-2 after 4 1/2 before sending 11 men to the plate in a five-run fifth. The Indians had just two hits in the inning but used four walks, two with the bases loaded, to help them take the lead.

Kyle Hunter earned the save for Lehighton with two scoreless innings. Jacen Nalesnik added two doubles and an RBI for the Indians.

Jake Schnalzer ripped a two-run home run and reached base three times for Saucon Valley, which ended its season at 16-9.
