Chris Duffy, Cody Ransom and John Suomi delivered key two-outs hits as the IronPigs snapped a two-game losing streak with a 8-4 win over Louisville in an Education Day matinee at Coca-Cola Park.
Trailing 1-0, Ransom crushed the first pitch he saw from Bats starter Chad Reineke in the bottom of the first inning into the bullpen for a three-run home run.
After Louisville battled back to tie the game 3-3 on a Wilkin Castillo home run, Duffy came through with a two-out, two-run double in the bottom of the seventh.
Suomi added insurance in the eighth inning with a three-run blast over the right field wall off of Louisville reliever Federico Baez.
The Lehigh Valley bullpen came on and limited the Bats to a single run over the final two innings to help Drew Carpenter even his mark at 4-4 on the season. Scott Mathieson pitched a scoreless ninth in a non-save situation.
The IronPigs will seek a split of the four game series on Friday when Brian Mazone (3-4, 4.50 ERA) takes the mound against Louisville's Matt Maloney (3-1, 2.67).
