The Lehigh Valley IronPigs rolled to an 8-1 win over the first-place Syracuse Chiefs on Saturday night in front of a cold announced crowd of 8,498.

Drew Carpenter earned the win with six innings of two-hit ball, and John Mayberry Jr. went 3-for-3 with three doubles, four runs scored and two RBI.

Despite two (harmless as they turned out) errors Lehigh Valley played some elegant defense in the clutch, including two double plays.

A win Sunday puts the IronPigs (4-5) at .500.
