After debating changes to the weight classes for high school wrestling, the National Federation of State High School Associations ultimately made no changes. The current 14-class system will remain for next season, according to a news release from the National Wrestling Coaches Association.
The NFHS' wrestling rules committee debated three new proposals, all of which would have eliminated the 103-pound class and increased limits for most other weights. According to the release, state associations were split between the current format and one known as "Option B":

"The committee, with no clear choice from the membership, did not believe it was appropriate to make a change in the weight classes just for the sake of change," Dan Pleimann, NFHS wrestling rules committee chair, said in a statement.
Pleimann added that the rules committee requested further weight-class study next season.
