IRONPIGS BEAT READING 3-2 AT COCA COLA PARK TUESDAY NIGHT!

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - It took a while, but the IronPigs finally got things going Tuesday night in their Route 222 Showcase exhibition game with Double-A Reading.

Held to three hits over the first five innings, doubles by Luis Maza, Cody Ransom and DeWayne Wise produced three runs in the sixth inning and edged the R-Phils 3-2 on a gorgeous April evening at Coca-Cola Park.

Joe Savery pitched the first five innings for the IronPigs, allowing two runs on seven hits. But the left-hander didn't issue any walks.

Maza, batting for Wilson Valdez, opened the sixth with a pinch-hit double off B.J. Rosenberg before Rich Thompson drew a walk. After Quintin Berry took a hit and at least one RBI away from Dane Sardinha with a diving catch near the left-field line, Random doubled up the allen to left-center, chasing home both Maza and Thompson to tie the game.

DeWise followed with the go-ahead double off the wall in right center.

Savery surrendred two runs in a second-inning that began with Brandon Pinckney's double to right center. Melvin Dorta followed with a bunt up the first-base line that Savery got to but bobbled. Pinckney, who went to third on the play, then scored on a groundout by Tuffy Gosewisch.

Dorta, who moved to third on two groundouts, scored on a wild pitch.

the IronPigs finished with seven hits including two more by Wise. Andy Tracy and Brian Bocock (double) had the IronPigs other two hits.

Wise's first hit came on a ball to center that fell untouched behind second base and left runners at first and third with two outs. But Domonic Brown closed out the inning with a diving catch in right center to take extra bases away from Neil Sellers.
