FROM KEITH GROLLER
My Friday began with a trip to Penn State to see the Brandywine softball team, finally, after four previous losses in the PIAA Class 2A finals, win the state championship with a 1-0 win over Riverside.
Couldn't have been happier for Don Roach, the Bethlehem native who coaches the Bullets.
He has built an amazingly consistent program at Brandywine, which really is just a stone's throw away
from Allentown out there in Topton.
I was there when his Roach's Brandywing teams lost in the four other finals -- 6-0 to Bald Eagle Area in 2005, 11-6 to Phillipsburg-Osceola in 2007, 2-0 to Bald Eagle Area in 2009 and then 1-0 to PO again in 2011.
Every time his team lost, Roach handled it with class. He complimented the other team and said his team was getting closer.
