Easton Polar Plunge raises $100,000 for Special Olympics

http://www.mcall.com/news/local/easton/mc-easton-special-olypmics-plunge-20130119,0,7812617.story FROM THE MORNING CALL Lou Rupp said he was well aware this week of the weather forecast for Saturday in Easton, where he would be taking a running dive into the Delaware River to benefit a charitable cause. But unlike many of the nearly 600 other brave souls who turned out at Scott Park for the Polar Plunge, he was actually disappointed. "I was a little upset," he said between drags on a cigar about an hour before he and his fellow plungers made their way down to the water. "I wanted it to be cold." With the National Weather Service calling for sunny skies with a high of 45 degrees and gentle southwesterly winds, Rupp — a UPS driver from Whitehall Township and a novice at jumping into icy water in January — felt a little cheated.
