Emmy-winning actress Valerie Harper, who starred as Rhoda Morgenstern in The Mary Tyler Moore Show and its spin-off Rhoda,
has died. She died on August 30 in Los Angeles. She had battled
leptomeningeal carcinomatosis, a rare condition in which cancer cells
spread into the meninges, the membranes surrounding the brain, since
March 2013. Ms. Harper was 80.
