FROM KEITH GROLLER
The first weekend of the high school football season brought a lot of
excitement and cheers, but it also brought sorrow to the local
officiating family.
Shortly after working the Parkland-Dieruff
game at J. Birney Crum Stadium on Friday night, Billy Engler Sr. was
stricken and later died of a heart attack at the hospital.
His sudden passing — Engler was just 62 — was a devastating blow to the tight-knit officiating community.
