FROM EXPRESS TIMES

Here are 10 free acts you don't want to miss:
King Paris and His Hypnotic Guitar, 9-11 p.m. Saturday, Volksplatz
Not every day do you get to see a Grammy-nominated musician in concert for free. This weekend you can. King Paris (real name Rick Vito) is a guitarist and former member of rock supergroup Fleetwood Mac.
Tall Tall Trees, 7-7:40 p.m. Saturday, Lyrikplatz; 8:30-10:30 p.m. Aug. 2, Main Street
Forget what you think you know about banjo-driven music. Tall Tall Trees -- who performed in April at The Grand Eastonian Hotel Suites in Easton -- takes a traditional banjo sound and adds an entirely new dimension to it; adding a gritty, fuzzy and funky edge to create music that is anything but typical of the genre.
Curley Taylor, 5:30-7 p.m. Sunday, Volksplatz
Taylor smoothly blends New Orleans zydeco with blues and reggae. The result is the right kind of boogie that will keep you out of your seat and on the dance floor.
Sarah Miles, 6-6:40 p.m. Sunday, Lyrikplatz
The right mix of Taylor Swift, Sara Bareilles and Carrie Underwood, yet still with a strong and defining voice all her own, Miles rolls country, pop and folk into one ear-pleasing package. Check out her acoustic cover of Lorde's "Royals."
The Badlees, 7-8:30 p.m. Monday, Liederplatz
The Badlees, hailing from central Pennsylvania, have been churning out radio-friendly folk rock with an alternative underbelly for years. They are a fun and entertaining band to see in concert. The Badlees bring with them a slew of catchy tunes, including such songs as "Angeline Is Coming Home,"  "Beyond These Walls," "Renew" and "Long Goodnight." I hope the group sneaks in "Gwendolyn," off of 1995's "River Songs."
Joyous, 2:30-5 p.m. Tuesday, Festplatz
The group's moniker should be an indication of what seven-piece Joyous brings to the table. Don't leave your dancing shoes at home.
Blaire Alise & The Bombshells, 8-9 p.m. Wednesday, Plaza Tropical
Alise & The Bombshells combine the poppy fun of '60s "girl groups" with bright and peppy punk rock. Time to dig out the go-go boots.
Blair Crimmins & The Hookers, 8-10 p.m. Aug. 8, Jazz Cabaret Stage
The name alone should be enough to carve out time in your schedule for this jazz group, who hails from Atlanta. The only thing that will be solicited (for free, of course) is your attention.
Scott Bradlee & Postmodern Jukebox, 7-8:30 p.m. Aug. 9, Americaplatz
Fans of Richard Cheese should make it a point to watch this throwback musical outfit. Postmodern Jukebox takes pop hits and re-directs them through the prism of swing, jazz and Big Band. Think of it as contemporary music with a vintage twist. Imagine a "Mad Men"-inspired cover of "Pompeii" or a Big Band retrofitting of Beyonce's "Drunk in Love."
Our Griffins, 9-9:40 p.m. Aug. 9, Lyrikplatz
This Lehigh Valley-based indie rock band is gaining momentum and will be coming off an opening set at the recent XPoNential Music Festival in Camden. This is the band you want to see so you can say you saw them live before they were headlining theaters and music halls across the country.
