FROM KEITH GROLLER
It was sad to read today of the passing of Robert Wolfe, Jr.
He was better known to me -- and many others -- as Wolfey.
He died Sunday at the age of 75.
If there's one person who attended more high school basketball games than I did in a given season, it was definitely Wolfey.
He was a fixture at every big game, no matter where it was played.
Him and his sidekick, former Dieruff athlete Bucky Paraszczak would often go outside the area to attend games down in District One or District 3.
Paraszczak and him were even at the state basketball championships in March at Hershey.
Doug Snyder, the Allen coach, always helped Wolfey out with tickets or passes.
They were everywhere, including the summertime tournaments at Cedar Beach.
They loved it.
Most recently, I saw him at Pates Park during one of the softball playoff games.
You don't see that kind of enthusiasm from fans anymore.
Everybody follows their son or their grandson, or maybe their nephew. Once they're done playing, the relative stops going to games.
But Wolfey liked to be at the games no matter who was playing. He was a fan of all teams, all kids and not just certain ones.
He was one of a kind, and the sports scene won't quite be the same without him.
You can read his obit on page News 13 in today's Morning Call.
