Easton Wall of Fame to have its first induction banquet on March 15

The newly formed Easton Area High School Wall of Fame committee will be inducting 12 former Easton Area High School athletes and coaches during its first induction banquet at the Holiday Inn Express, Palmer Township, on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 6 p.m. Tickets for the banquet cost $30 and can purchased by contacting the athletic office at 610-250-2481, extension 13000.
In addition to the 12 Wall of Fame Inductees, the Wall of Fame committee has added a Wall of Honor for Easton Area High School graduates, former coaches and administrators who have become outstanding in their professions after leaving Easton Area High School. There will be nine initial members inducted under this new criteria adding to the 100-plus current Wall of Fame members.
 Highlighting the Wall of Fame selections are:
Terry Bartolet, who was a standout three (3) sport athlete and quarterback on Coach Bob Rute’s 1958 undefeated football team, and one of the finest pitchers in the history of Easton.
Jim Miller, a baseball player, who helped lead Coach Ed Snyder to both East Penn League and District XI Championships in 1962.
Stan Sutphen, the legendary boys basektball coach  who guided the Red Rover basketball squad to their first ever East Penn League and District XI Championship during the 1972-73 season..
Ray Herman, who started the cross country program in 1967, and became the school’s head track and field in 1969.
Both Sutphen and Herman have the most lifetime wins in school history in their respective sports.
Other inductees are the late Eddie Snyder who was the Red Rover baseball boss in the 50’s until his retirement in 1966; Katherine “Mac” Richards who coached numerous sports including boys basketball; Terry Melick, the school's long-time field hockey coach, and Oscar Meeker - the Father of Easton High School football in the late 19th century.
Also to be induced is Barry Snyder, a longtime assistant coach in both wrestling and football, who was recently inducted into the PA Wrestling Coaches Association Hall of Fame. He was the starting quarterback on coach Wayne Grube’s undefeated 1968 football team.
Also, a  pair of former Red Rover female athletes Ashley Farmer, a three-sport athlete scoring over 1,000 points in basketball and conference MVP in both basketball and volleyball, and Liz Hayes, Easton’s all time leading scorer in basketball are included.
Stand out baseball player Bryan Kostishion played both baseball and basketball and led Coach Jim Wolbach’s Red Rover baseball squads with both his arm and powerful bat in the late 70’s and early 80’s.
Wall of Honor
The nine  Wall of Honor inductees include former Easton basketball coach Pete Carril, who went on to greatness at Princeton University and in the NBA; Jim Gano who dedicated his career to athletic coaching and administration statewide, and Frank Pulli who was a Major League Baseball umpire and supervisor.
Other inductees include brothers John and Tom Curley best known for their careers with the USA Today and the Associated Press respectively, former Easton Area High School principal and coach Al Jones, and Tom LaMay, famous for his U.S. Naval Academy accomplishments and career. Our final inductees are principal Elton Stone and teacher Jim Beam responsible for the composition of the Easton High School Alma Mater in the early 1900s.
The Wall of Fame selection committee revised the previously adopted criteria for the initial members and newly selected members that will be inducted in the spring of each year.
