FROM KEITH GROLLER
Lehigh coach Andy Coen won't name a starting quarterback for Saturday's game against Lafayette at Goodman Stadium, which has the Patriot League championship and a playoff berth on the line.
After the season-ending injury to Brandon Bialkowski at Bucknell on Oct. 26, both junior Matt McHale and freshman Nick Shafnisky have started games.
McHale was injured against Holy Cross on Nov. 9.
Coen didn't name a starter for last week's game at Colgate, but Shafnisky started and played the entire game in a 31-14 win.
No matter who starts against Lafayette, there's a chance both could play.
"Matt has been out and is feeling better, 100 percent better, than he did a week ago," Coen said. "We're going to practice through the week and see what we're going to do. You could see both of them."
In his first collegiate start, Shafnisky, the Whitehall graduate, was 11 of 21 passing for 134 yards and two touchdowns, both to Lee Kurfis.
He also rushed for 26 yards on nine carries.
