FROM KEITH GROLLER
Rob Patete, an East Stroudsburg University product, hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning and was one of three pitchers to hold Limeport to three hits as Gabelsville won the Tri-County League championship with a 6-2 win over the host Bulls in the fifth and final game of the title series before a big crowd at Limeport Stadium on Saturday night.
Brandon Sullivan went 2-for-3 and scored three runs for the Owls.
Patete is an Owen J Roberts High School graduate who played last season for the Allentown Railers of the ACBL. He is entering his sophomore year at ESU.
Gabelsviile (28-12) has been the most successful franchise in Tri-Co history, but hadn’t won a title since 2010. The Owls have now won eight titles since 1999 and 16 since 1984 if you count the team’s Gilbertsville era.
Limeport, which had a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five series, finished 30-12.

Limeport 000 020 0 – 2 3 3
Konnick, Patete (5), Kulp (7) and Raifsnider; Miller, Michael (7) and Umbenhauer. HR: Patete (5th, 2 on).
