Official comment from Pleasant Valley on declining invite

FROM KEITH GROLLER

Pleasant Valley superintendent Doug Arnold sent me a text message late Thursday night to confirm that the Pleasant Valley School Board has rejected the invitation from the Colonial League.
His comment:
"Tonight, after careful consideration and deliberation, the Pleasant Valley School Board voted to respectfully decline the invitation to join the Colonial League. We are truly grateful to have been invited to join such a fine organization and wish the Colonial League well."
The vote, according to a report in the Pocono Record, was unanimous.
During a workshop meeting on Monday night, school board members and others expressed concerns about the potential loss of rivalries from neighboring Monroe County schools and also the loss of Distict 11 rankings points because Pleasant Valley is a 4A school and would be playing primarily 3A and 2A schools in the Colonial League.
