There have only been three band directors in the history of Liberty High School.
When Ron Sherry retired in 1990 and handed the reins to his assistant Greg MacGill, he thought the Grenadier Band had reached its pinnacle.
"I thought, 'This is the best it's gonna get,'" Sherry said. "When MacGill took over, he took the Liberty band to new heights beyond what I ever dreamed of."
After 35 years in the Bethlehem Area School District, first as assistant and then as band director, MacGill will retire at the close of the school year.
