Coaches, looking for help with the all-area boys basketball team

Now that the District 11 tournament is over and the nets have been cut down and we have a lull before the start of states, it's time to turn our attention to The Morning Call's All-Area team.

As I said in Friday's paper, we'd again like the coaches to participate as they have done for many years.

We'd like the coaches from our coverage area to submit (by e-mail tokeith.groller@mcall.com) their top 10 players for the season in the order they like them. We'd also like a coach-of-the-year selection.

As coaches submit their selections, the No. 1 guy on their list will get 10 points, No. 2 will receive nine and so on. Whoever gets the most points will be our player of the year.

I will add in my own ballot to the total.

But coaches, please send me this list by Tuesday night.

Yes, you can vote for your own players and yes, you can even vote for yourself as coach of the year.

Assistants can vote, but only one representative per school will be allowed.

So far, two coaches have submitted their selections and I thank Stroudsburg's Shawn Thornton and Lehighton's Rich Oertner for their input. Obviously, we'd like to get many more coaches involved.

The team will be released sometime in late March.
