FROM THE MORNING CALL

From now on, call it the PPL Center.
Seeking to be at the center of the new energy being pumped into downtown Allentown, PPL Corp. today announced a 10-year deal for the naming rights for Allentown's $177 million downtown hockey arena.
In weather fitting for ice hockey, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms held a 10:30 a.m. news conference at Seventh and Hamilton streets to announce a deal with the regional power supplier for naming rights of the 8,500-seat arena where the Phantoms will begin playing in 2014.

"The excitement is building and today you could say it's electric," said Phantoms co-owner Jim Brooks. "Today the arena gets its name."

"PPL is thrilled to be part of this project," said company CEO Bill Spence." The project is about commitment to a bright future for Allentown and the Lehigh Valley." The amount PPL will pay for the naming rights was not disclosed.
