Tuesday's Parkland-Liberty game was one for the record books

http://blogs.mcall.com/groller/ FROM KEITH GROLLER Tuesday night's Parkland-Liberty was the kind of game that many area basketball fans wish we'd see much more often than we do. It was a feast for the eyes, if you like offense. The 90-78 Parkland victory got us searching the Lehigh Valley Conference record books and it turns out that at 168 points it was the second-highest scoring game in the 11-year history of the LVC behind only the 169 put on the board by Northampton and Allen in a 2005-06 game won by the Konkrete Kids, 89-80. The 90 points by Parkland was the second-highest total in LVC history for one team behind only the 94 scored by an Andy Stephens-coached Emmaus team in the 2004-05 season. The Green Hornets beat Dieruff 94-54 that season. In terms of games involving at least one LVC team, Parkland-Liberty ranks fourth all-time behind the 186 points compiled by Allen and Chester in a memorable 2006 PIAA 4A quarterfinal won by the Clippers 97-89, the 185 total of Stroudsburg's 99-86 win over Becahi in the 2008-09 season and the aforementioned 169 of the Northampton-Allen game in 2005-06. It doesn't happen every day that you score 90 points in a game as the list below will attest. In fact, one team scores 80 very rarely in a given season. Allen, amazingly, hit 80 eight times in that memorable 2005-06 season when the Canaries went 27-5, won both the LVC and District 11 titles and averaged a league-record 71.8 points per game.
