FROM THE MORNING CALL
With temperatures heading lower, PPL and MetEd continue to chip away at the number of customers still without power in the aftermath of superstorm Sandy.
The "current total is approximately 58,000 out of service, and virtually all of those in eastern Pennsylvania from Bucks and Montgomery, up through the Lehigh Valley and north into the Poconos and northeastern Pennsylvania," said PPL spokesman Joe Nixon.
About 28,000 of those were in Lehigh and Northampton counties, down from 62,000 last night.
At 10 a.m., MetEd reported 24,391 customers without power in Lehigh, Northampton, Bucks, Montgomery and Berks counties
